Twelve Hundred Thank Yous

A few Big Ideas we received during our Regional Market Blitz on July 9, 2016.

The beginning of August marked the close of Elevating Erie's public engagement phase. Over 1,200 of you responded when we asked, “What’s Your Big Idea?” and we owe each of you a giant THANKS! Thank you for your time, thank you for your thoughtful responses, and thank you most of all to those who helped spread the word about this project. When we look at the Boulevard, we see the potential that lies beneath each square inch of asphalt, and under that, a cultural tapestry that deserves to be unearthed. Those of you that share this vision have brought us 1,200 steps closer to making an “elevated” Erie a reality.

So! We asked for your thoughts in the Elevating Erie survey and you certainly delivered! The team has been very busy sorting through the tremendous data you provided, and the results truly speak for themselves. We’re very excited but not at all surprised to find that most of you are as eager as we are to implement safe pedestrian and bicycle infrastructure into the boulevard. Furthermore, 100% of everyone agreed that aesthetic enhancements are needed. Okay maybe that’s embellishing a bit since that wasn’t actually a question. But, with zero mentions that status quo should be maintained, we'll draw our own conclusions!

In addition to the qualified responses, we amassed an impressive list of suggestions which focus on regenerative and restorative community improvements. That speaks volumes - it's clear that ours is a community that cares.

Wondering how the Ideas placed? Here are the top-ranked images for each category:
