Closing the Gap

If you are like us, you have been waiting with bated breath for an announcement of the next step for the Empire State Trail project! New York State released the FINAL Empire State Trail Plan in June of 2018, you can find the proposed route through Central New York on page 22. We have been busy working behind the scenes to prepare for the next steps in the implementation of the Empire State Trail!

We have been working on a public art project that will celebrate the gap in the Old Erie Canal between DeWitt and Camillus. We have been working with our friends at CityLore and Echo to develop a design concept for the installation and are looking to site them in Camillus and DeWitt at the current termini of the Old Canal near Warners Road and Butternut Drive.

We are still working on the details - but here is the early concept:

Lastly, we want to tell the world about the exciting opportunities that the Empire State Trail investment has in store for Central New York - we spent some time over this past year documenting trail rides, talking with cyclists and businesses, and gathering footage of all that this area has to offer - as a result we have developed this amazing video that tells our story! Happy watching!
